Experience is everything

Dragon Lab was set up in 2018 to offer a specialised service to vets and owners of dogs and livestock in the West Wales area and to establish a gold standard veterinary laboratory in Ceredigion. We offer a range of canine tests and are proud of our superior testing protocols, laboratory practice, affordability and fast turn around times.

Eve has over 16 years experience in veterinary immunology, ELISA testing, antibody production and processing along with parasitology and genetics and has shown and bred dos and horses for over 20 years. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Cardiff University, Eve went on to gain laboratory experience in immunological diagnostics and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Parasitology and Immunology. We also have a qualified Canine Nutritionalist on site, who is paramount in formulating our canine supplements.

Dragon Lab are experts in canine reproduction, ultrasound scanning,  progesterone testing, interpretation, advice and breeding success! Having gained experience from noted establishments across the globe and gaining training in a variety of disciplines. Eve is qualified in semen collection, analysis and artificial insemination of a number of species, including dogs, goats, pigs and sheep, she is also a qualified ultrasound scanner and is registered and approved in microchipping.

Our services not only provide you with the results but also the knowledge and advice of our extensive experience.

Background

Eve has lived on a smallholding in rural Wales for the past 11 years, with her husband, daughter and pack(!) of dogs, including Dalmatians and Whippets. It is here she has gained a wealth of knowledge in the welfare and husbandry of cattle, goats, chickens, sheep, alpacas and pigs. Eve has also been a servant to her horses and ponies for a quarter of a century, which has put her in good stead for managing their health and comfort!

Eve has been involved with Dalmatians; owning, breeding and showing, for over 20 years and is heavily involved with the health and improvement of the breed, especially in raising awareness of the potential problems some Dalmatians develop, relating to high uric acid and the re-introduction of the SCLA29 gene into the breed via the LUA breeding program, initiated in the UK by Julie Evans of Tyrodal Dalmatians.

Eve is also a keen equestrian, enjoying both riding and driving (to which of course the Dalmatians lend themselves perfectly!) and breeding Welsh Ponies of Cob Type.

Animals are a massive part of family life and brings much pleasure as well as finding new friends through like-minded individuals and providing a veterinary laboratory services along with improving services relating to dog fertility in Ceredigion.
