What Does a Cat Titre Test Check?
The VacciCheck Titre Test for Cats measures IgG antibodies against:
- Feline panleukopenia virus (FPLV) — also known as feline infectious enteritis
- Feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) — a major cause of cat flu
- Feline calicivirus (FCV) — another major cause of cat flu
For panleukopenia, the presence of specific antibodies is strongly associated with protection and may indicate that revaccination is not currently required.
Immunity to herpesvirus and calicivirus is more complex. These antibody results should be considered alongside your cat’s vaccination history, age, health, lifestyle and individual exposure risk.
When Can a Titre Test for Cats Be Helpful?
You may wish to titre test if:
- Your cat is approaching their routine core booster
- You want to check their response to kitten vaccinations
- Their vaccination history is unknown
- They have previously experienced a suspected vaccine reaction

Understanding Your Cat’s Results
VacciCheck Titre Test for Cats provides a semi-quantitative antibody result for each of the three diseases.
A positive result shows that specific antibodies have been detected. The meaning of that result varies between the feline diseases tested, so the report should be considered alongside your cat’s circumstances and discussed with your veterinary surgeon.
A low or negative result does not automatically mean that your cat has no immune memory. However, it may indicate that revaccination should be considered following an individual risk assessment.
When Should I Test My Cat?
The most useful time to titre test is shortly before a routine core booster is due.
If you are checking your cat’s response to a recent vaccination, allow at least four weeks between vaccination and testing.
There is no single testing interval that is suitable for every cat. Repeat testing will depend on the previous result, your cat’s age and health, and whether a current result is required by a cattery or another third party.
